March Pinspired

Happy Friday!! This weekend is going to be so fun! Orange County has ACTUAL rain in the forecast, I've got people to meet, I've got my favorite places to go, and I've a Saturday at home with my little family and a book on my Kindle. Yum.
I liked this because it's casual, classic and comfortable!  I don't know why I've never worn this combo, but I will now :)

Sweater: Gap-- their tall line (heart)
Tank: Old Navy
Jeans: True Religion.

Hope you have a great Friday leading into a happy March :)

Church Retreat

This weekend was my church's women's retreat. It was a slice of heaven for sure. The theme was "Regfreshment in Christ" and it was just that. I was hesitant to go at first, but as it got closer, I became more and more excited to spend time with my girl friends, load a book on my kindle, and get away from it all!
The infamous, darling coffee mug, a sign of let's sit, listen, speak and relax.
The speaker, Marlean Felix, was so encouraging. Her life story just so unique; 104 year old father, 3rd grade teacher, Pastor Husband, Gold medal Olympian daughter; just makes you want to glean some wisdom from her!!
And the food, oh the food, this was just breakfast people!
But most of all, most refreshing, was my God's words to me! That He is my shepherd, that He knows my dependency, foolishness and He has come alongside me to lead, nourish, and correct me in love. Psalm 23 will never be the same to me, and I learned so much.
"I fear no evil, for You are with me..."
Teaching, friendship and the beautiful sounds of thirty or so women singing to a loving Saviour; just perfect.

Orange Picking

There is a gated community in our neighborhood that has a few orange groves. A quick pass through the guard's station with our card key, and you're  greeted with green rolling hills and a long dirt path lined neatly with rows of young orange trees.
I grabbed a bag from the van, as the excitement was barely contained within me to share this with my family. There is something about pulling the fruit from the tree, seeing the work it takes, seeing the bugs, the fallen ones, the green ones not quite ripe, and hearing the satisfying dull snap as you break one free. An orchard, ripe with lessons of agriculture and memories in the making.
The white blossoms contrasting against the dark green leaves, smelling so crisp and floral. The start of the incredible spring scents I appreciate so much here.
Since it was Presidents Day, the man of the house was able to join. An extra long weekend, with an extra chance to take in our surroundings.
The beauty of God's creation; in aesthetics and practicality.
Up the hill a little more, the sun beginning it's descent, casting long shadows.

Such a precious nook in the middle of suburbia, just steps from subdivisions and community pools.

The fruits of my labor; happy boys, fresh oranges (navel and blood varieties) and freshly squeezed juice to accompany dinner :)

On Having Boys

Rambunctious, energetic, active, physical but at times, tender, sensitive and goofy in love. It's the running non-stop and the falling on me hugs. It's the determination not to cry this time, and the concern when others do.

The innate attractions to rocks, and sound effects; things that I would never in a million years have even desired nor considered, but then seeing, that in the same regard, they play with me and find me entertaining. When I feel inadequate (which I am), they throw me a bone it seems, and then I am thankful that in some ways they are not like me!
Hard working, and strong, yet they love me...

Embroidered Dish Towel Using Photopolymer Stamps

Happy Thursday!! I am sooo looking forward to this weekend, but in the mean time, maybe I can brighten your day by sharing a fun little project I did for a girl friend's wedding shower!

Supplies:
Embroidery Floss
Dishtowel to embroider
Embroidery Hoop
Lawn Fawn "Science of Love" stamp set
Lawn Fawn "Quinn's ABC's" stamp set
Staz-on Ink for paper and fabric
Clear block for stamps

How cute is this Lawn Fawn set?! I heart my job for access to crafty adorableness!

All you do is stick the photopolymer clay stamps on the block, soak up some ink, stamp the dish cloth, and embroider!! I loved this idea from a friend working at the CHA show with me, and it was just perfect for this occasion.

The possibilities are as endless as all the fun stamps!!

Mom to Mom Valentines Day

What would have these two little heartbreakers drooling with mouthfuls of candy and smiling from ear to ear??

Last Tuesday's play date of course! I've been planning our church's biweekly mommy and me afternoon get together and last weeks was a very special one! I hand carved some potatoes into heart stamps and made sure to bring my potluck pitch in, because my boys were ready to share in the love-day festivities!

After craft and lunch, we exchanged our Valentines! Timmy and Troy both picked out all boy ones, so sorry to the girls who were referred to as an "awesome dude" on their Ninja Turtles Valentine :)
We got the kids rounded up for a picture and called it a day!

I am so thankful that even though they aren't in a classroom to exchange little notes, they still get to experience all the fun festivities. I am even more thankful to know the greatest love ---that Jesus laid down His life for me.

"In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins"
1 John 4:10

Favorite Things- February

Hey Gals!!

http://mcanallyfamily.blogspot.com/
Today is the monthly link-up for my favorite things under $10. I love linking up with some of the sweetest group of bloggers, Andrea and Erika. I started reading their blogs after loving Shay's; here is my blog post about following her awesome meal plan Mondays.  In thinking about what to pick for this link up I usually go to my grocery/Target/Amazon list because it's my revolving list of cheaper items that are so good, they are my necessities.

e.l.f. small angled brush $3 at Target--- This beauty here works so well, and makes filling in your eyebrows a no brainer because it is so thin  for the end of the eyebrow, and can make a nice flat line on the bottom thicker part of your eyebrow. If your like me and had been using eyebrow pencils, or those tiny brushes that come with the make up, get one! I can never use a regular make-up brush as easily now and for $3 you can keep one in your bathroom, and gym bag. And, if you need a good eyebrow powder...
Try NYX Eybrow cake powder in Blonde. I love that it's a lighter shade than most eyebrow colors, but also has a darker shade if you want. Love this stuff and a great price at $5.

Last one, but oh my word I have to recommend this candle. Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut from bath and body works. It's a vanilla base with sugar and cinnamon notes; I really wanted a cinnamon candle, and while they have their spring scents out this was the only one, but it soooo good. It smells light but warm and not at all too sweet. Some sweet food scents just make me want to eat, but this is neutral enough to just make me happy, and not hungry. Is that just me??? Like I could only burn certain candles if I was ok with eating a slice of cake. LOL! Anyway if you are looking for a fresh cinnamon scent for the spring, try Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut. :)

Valentines Day

Valentine's Day was so much fun! Tim brought me a special surprise when he got home :)
I was getting ready for our date night of playing tennis and saw my present, there is nothing more exciting than an Anthropologie bag on your bed!! I think I screamed a little.
Inside was a pair of Old Navy jammie bottoms, but in a size large, which was only mildly insulting. Note to any guys out there...don't buy your girl a large, like ever.
But, he totally made up for it with this cutie apron from Anthro. I guess he was listening when I commented how cute they were when I saw them on Shark Tank a few weeks ago. It almost makes me want to do the dishes...not.

We had a yummy dinner I made of lasagna, salad, and breadsticks with the Spencer's who came over to watch the boys for our date!

We played two sets of tennis (I'll leave the score out) and went to the mall for some bath and body works :) Tim, you are so sweet, and it was my favorite date night yet!
When we got home, it was dessert time...
Chocolate dipped strawberries for me (I'll leave out the number) and some cupcakes for my cupcakes!!
 A sweet rose...
And some heart d├ęcor make a  happy home indeed!!

I hope you had a great Valentine's Day too! :)
